Backyard Cuisine: Cheery Maple Seed Cakes

Hello! Welcome to Backyard Cuisine! Today we are going to make a quick and simple dish that your chipmunk friends will love!

You will need:
5 Maple seed pods.
1 Dandelion.
1 Buttercup
1 Medium sized leaf
Water

Step 1: Peel and rinse your maple seeds and place them on your leaf.

Step 2: Half your seeds and using your finger (as shown in picture) flatten them into cakes.

Step 3: Rinse your dandelion and shred it on top.

Step 4: Remove the petals from your buttercup and arrange them on top. Serve in a private spot in your yard.

Dish tastes great served along with baby pine cones.

See you next time on.... Backyard Cuisine! (Cheesy music)

Summer Headpiece

Ta daa! Here is the last four seasons headpiece, Summer!

The base is made the same as Spring again.

It has pretty little sun flowers in two shades of yellow hot glued on. A few of the flowers have yellow and gold jewels glued in them to add some sparkle and there are yellow ribbons on the back. Since I posted Spring I added a few jewels to it as well to make it a bit fancier.

Fall Headpiece

Here is my next four seasons headpiece! As you can probably tell it is for Fall. So far I have also made Winter and Spring.

The base is made the same as Spring's.

There are beautiful bright colored fall leaves hot glued on. There are also three little jewels in the front to add some sparkle and because I didn't want the big leaves on the forehead. Only Summer left now!

Spring Headpiece

Here is the Spring headpiece I made for my ballet school's next performance. I posted Winter the other day.

It is made out of two pieces of florist wire twisted into a circle and is covered with green florist tape. (To make it easier to glue on the flowers and so that no wire ends poke the wearer's head.)

There are dainty little silk flowers hot glued on it.

And light pink and blue silk ribbons hang down the back. I am very happy with how it turned out! Now I just need to make Summer and Fall and some ivy hair things.

Kuririn Diary

I was looking through some of my bookmarks and found the Kuririn Diary. Kuririn is a Sanrio character inspired by a real hamster. The website looks like it isn't updated anymore, but it is fun to look at anyways. You can watch a cute little cartoon series about him on the website. Enjoy! :)

Winter Headpiece

I am making the headpieces for the little girls who are being the four seasons in my ballet school's next production. This one is for Winter. Bow Peep volunteered to model for me.

I got a bunch of that covered wire tinsel stuff and cut off all the cheesy stars. Then I wound two strands together in a circle and hot glued some silver holly leaves we had sitting around on and twisted a wire piece with (fake of course!) crystals and sequins onto the front.

My first headpiece!

Tigers And Dogs (Dog Petition Closed)

Tell Indonesian leaders to stop poachers and clearance of tigers' habitat.

Ask President Obama to urge State Governors to end this heinous sport forever.

Please sign the petitions! It only takes a minute.

瓶詰妖精

Bottle Fairy is a cute little anime series about four fairies trying to become human. It is super adorable and one of my favorites.

You can watch all thirteen episodes here.

Earth Day Reminder

Earth Day is April 22nd
Arbor Day is April 24th

Plant a tree, recycle, do something good for our planet this week! (And every other week and day...) It's the only one we have so we should take care of it. My family is putting up more bird and squirrel homes in our backyard this week (trees!). :)

Some New Friends (2)

One of the donkeys. So cute!

I loved the white one.

Those bangs are so cool!

Nosey nosey.

It looks like he's smiling.

The cute cream one again.

There was a super adorable baby one too, but it was shy and was staying with it's mom, so I didn't get a picture. It was so much fun meeting them! They are all so adorable.

Some New Friends

Today I met some sweet miniature horses
and a regular sized horse and a donkey.

This adorable little horse was really friendly.

This one was shyer.

Coming over to say hello.

They look so soft!

The regular sized horse was very friendly too.

I love his beard!
