Daisies For Your Hair

A have a ton of silk flowers and some plain silver hair clips sitting around so I decided to start making flower hair accessories. I made these daisy hair clips just this afternoon.
One is for me, and I'm going to give the other to a friend.

They have such sweet fuzzy middles! To make them a bit more interesting I glued a little heart shaped button in each. One yellow and one green. I think they turned out quite cute!

Petition: Save Japan's Dolphins (Facebook)

(Photograph by dolpinpix)

"In the feature documentary "The Cove," a team of activists and filmmakers infiltrate a heavily-guarded cove in Taiji, Japan. In this remote village they witness and document activities deliberately being hidden from the public: More than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered each year and their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan, often times labeled as whale meat.

The majority of the world is not aware this is happening. The Taiji cove is blocked off from the public. Cameras are not allowed inside and the media does not cover the story. It's critical that we get the word out in Japan. Once the Japanese people know we believe they will demand change."

Hippy Girl

I was feeling bored and crafty today, so I made another Barbie outfit!
This time it was for this super long haired, freckled, "teenage" doll.

It's another simple tube dress made from a peace symbol print sock I found in the Target dollar bins a few months ago. It's super stretchy so I suppose it could be worn as a skirt as well.

For an accessory I braided embroidery floss in three different colors
together to make a necklace. It was a super easy and fun outfit to make!

Petition: Stop IHOP's Hen Cruelty

(Photograph by eume)

"Many major restaurant chains are starting to use some cage-free eggs. But IHOP refuses to take this modest step, instead exclusively using eggs from hens cruelly confined in barren battery cages so tiny, each animal has less space then a sheet of paper on which to live. It's time for IHOP to move in the right direction!"

Petition: Stop Cruel Euthanasia Practices

(Photograph by Jp Corkery)

"We must stop the use of gas chambers to euthanize animals in overcrowded shelters. Every year, more then 3 million adoptable animals are euthanized in shelters for lack of shelter space and funding to care for them. This is distressing enough. Although the injection is the most humane way to euthanize, gas chambers are still in use across the nation, which is both inhumane to animals and demoralizing to shelter workers."

Please sign the letter and tell a friend.

Petition: Help End Military Trauma Training on Animals

(Photograph by kelpie1)

"Thousands of healthy animals are abused and killed by the military in trauma and chemical-casualty training exercises every year-even though superior non-animal alternatives are available.

In current training exercises, live pigs are shot, stabbed, and burned; live goats have their legs broken and cut off; and live monkeys are poisoned with harmful chemicals. These barbaric exercises are conducted on many military bases in the U.S. as well as at private contract companies.

There are numerous non-animal training methods available, including rotations in civilian trauma centers; the Combat Trauma Patient Simulation (CTPS) system; the Simulab Corporation's TraumaMan system; and Dr. Emad Aboud's "living" cadaver model, which Dr. Aboud personally demonstrated for the Army. These methods are humane and provide military personnel with superior training sine the anatomy and physiology of animals differs enormously from that of humans"

iPenguin

I made this penguin iPod case for my friend's Nano. It is made
out of blue fleece with a patch of white fleece on it's tummy.

It's face is made out of yellow felt and black sharpie, and
there are two little wings on either side also made with fleece.

Attached to the bottom are two blue silk ribbons that
hold the iPod in when tied. I hope my friend likes it!
